Something Happy and Something Very Sad and Disturbing!

Hi everyone!!  Wooo Hooo ~ look what came in the mail while I was away...
First of all, we all got home safely yesterday afternoon and I spent the rest of the day trying to get everything put away and get the laundry caught up.  I also had a little time to play in my scraproom.  But I can't show you what I did until later this week.  So be sure and check back...
But I can share with you the fabulous prizes that I received in the mail by 2 very talented ladies.
The first one is from Agnes ake Flowerdisco...  If you remember I won her drawing for that cute little bag..  And look what she threw in with it... 2 wonderful stamp sets, and look, one is about the "beach".  You can bet I will be using these...  And, she also made me this sweet card.....   Agnes, you're such a sweetheart and such a dear sweet friend......  Can't wait to put this together!!!  Thank you sooo much!!!  Hugs!!!
And then if you remember, I won first place over at Scrap It with a Song a couple of weeks ago ~ which the song  was "Once Upon a Dream"..  And the winner was to receive a handmade LO from Beatriz at Amazing Grace well, you guessed it!! She made me this beautiful "Scrapbook Queen" layout for my scraproom, and framed it and everything!!  And she also made me a very cute card...  Thank you Bea, you too, are such a sweetie!!  And I will display my award proudly...   Actually, right now I'm feelin' a little like a queen with 2 beautiful prizes.....
Thank you both so very much, I luv both prizes!!!!!
Now for my sad and disturbing news...  Yesterday after we were home for awhile my neighbor to the left called and told me she was just "wanting to fill me in" about my neighbor on my right.  For all of you who don't live in the country, I'll just let you know that your neighbors could  be anywhere from a block away, to being miles on down the road.  This neighbor is about a quarter of a mile from me.. And I didn't really know them very well, they kept to themselves mostly, but just waved when we passed on the road.  Anyway, she proceeded to tell me that the husband, who is just a little older than I am, killed himself last week and they had just found the body yesterday...  He had stormed out of his house last Monday and his wife had not seen him since.  On Wednesday she filed a missing persons report... My neighbor didn't have any other details, I'm not for sure I want any details..  This is just so disturbing for me...  You watch the news and read the papers, but you just don't think about it happening in your own back yard...  I just can't understand why anyone would want to do this..  or think that this was the only answer!!
So sorry, I didn't mean to bring anyone down...  It was just such a shock to us, especially since we had just come home from having a fun time with our family.....
Thank you all for being such wonderful friends!!!
Take care!!!
Hugs  :o)

Congratulations on the wonderful prizes. I'm jeolous of the Beatriz layout It's beautiful. We also went away a few years ago for the 4th of July, and came home to find out our neighbor next door had shot himself in the driveway on the 5th anniversary of his wife's death. So sad, I'm glad I know the Lord and know that something like that is not the answer. Sure wish everyone did. Congratulations! Shari (cricutrookie)

Fern... welcome back! It is always great to get away but the work it takes to get caught up sometimes really makes me wonder if it was worth it!! LOL!! Congrats on both prizes... totally jealous of your prize from Beatriz...she has such amazing talent!! You certainly deserve the award!!
Also, I am sorry to hear about your neighbor... you always think that things like that happen somewhere else... It can really rock your world when it happens so close to home.
Hope you have a fabulous week!

Hi, Fern. Welcome back! So glad you got away and really enjoyed yourself -- we all need that sometimes. However, I am sorry you had to come home on such a bad note. No, we never think something like that could happen almost on our doorsteps. I will say a little prayer for the family tonight -- so sad!

On a happier note, you came home to some really nice goodies! And, I can't wait to see what you'll be doing now that you're back!!!

Fern Welcome back sweetie!!! I LOVE what you received in the mail that is AWESOME and thanks for sharing the creativity of others.....What BEAUTIFUL creations!!!

On your disturbing story, yes suicide honey is something very very tragic something neither you or I or anyone can understand. I too experienced this in my life lifetime about 4 years ago. My mother did the exact same thing and till this day I can never ever understand why. It took a couple of years to even tell anyone how she passed away, so tragic and so sad for anyone to do such at thing. I will for sure say prayers for all involved in this horrible situation.. So sorry for this disturbing news for you sweetie!! I am sure my sad story didn't help either. But i love ya girl, and big Huge hugs your way!!!

Congrats on the awesome prizes. I am so glad you are enjoying them :) :) :)

I'm sure it was very disturbing to hear that such a terrible thing happened anywhere, much less so close to home. :(

Welcome home Fern! Great prizes you received!

And on the note of the neighbor, suicide is becoming such a STRONG way to get rid of all the problems it seems these days. I am almost overwhelmed by the amount I have heard of. I don't know what goes through people's minds right before they proceed to do it. I don't know what the economic status is like there, but here in California it is getting pretty bad. A lot of men losing jobs and then losing their pride. We just don't realize the pressure that is on the men in our lives at times. THough they never say it, some of them carry a silent burden of caring for their families and when they lost that ability they lose themselves. Sorry I am rambling, but this is a very strong issue for me and I wish that I could just have a moment to nit pick at their brains. Just a few words to make them see the brighter days that are always ahead. I'm sorry that you had to come home to such sad/disturbing news. Stay uplifted through this. Suicide hits everyone hard, even if you weren't close to them.

Sorry you got bad news as well. Something like that happened to a man at my church recently and it really makes you wonder. Fern, Welcome back and congratulations on both prizes! I am so glad you liked your frame and the colors suit your room. I am so sorry to hear about your neighbor though. I pray that God will give strength and comfort to the family he left behind. I went to the doctor today and everything will be alright, no broken bones, praise God, just a big hit, that's all. Take care!!!
