Hi everyone.. I just want to say "thank you" for your thoughts and prayers you sent to my dad and family this last week... My DH and I made it back home late last night and I will treasure these last few days I spent with my dad. Just seeing him laugh and even join in on some of the "stupid/silly" things my DH came up with kinda reminded me of other times we would go home to visit.. And you know, that's just what he really needed right now, some lighthearted conversation that stimulated his mind but didn't make him think of things he did or needed to do at home.. He doesn't need to hear about things he can't do a thing about while he's in the nursing home.... Right now we are taking one day at a time. He doesn't seem to be depressed, he's resting comfortably, and he has everything he needs. We still encourage him to try to walk and get his strength back in his legs, but right now he's just too week. Again I want to thank you all for being so supportive and such wonderful friends...
Hugs to you all!!!

Thanks for sharing such personal moments Fern. I am saying prayers for your fathers. I hope he continues to gain strength, and finds serenity, peace and happiness in his new situation.
Hugs

Fern...what great news. I am so happy he is recovering but I tell you my grandma had Alzheimer and it hurts so much as the condition advances. I was her favorite, she raised me and she didn't even recognize me as the time went. My advice; Try to spend as much time as you can while you still can and spoil him as much as you can. I certainly will keep praying for things get better and better everyday for him.
A bIg Hug for you again my friend.
So happy you all had a great and restful visit...those will be the times you will treasure.
Keeping you all in my daily thoughts and prayers.
Dear friend, so glad to hear that you are home safe and that you had a good visit with your dad. Times like these are so hard but reminds us of what is important in life .. our family. I am still remembering my bittersweet visit with my mom in February and cherish every detail! Hugs and prayers! I'm right there with ya in thought!
Fern... I must have been hiding under a rock when you shared about your father.... I had no idea until I read this post... sorry about that! I am glad you are back... seeing our parents age is so difficult. I will be sure to add you and your family to my prayer list.
Barb :)
