Good morning everyone!! Wow, a lot has happened since the last time I posted. Last Wednesday our farm flooded!!! Yep... We got 4.5 inches of rain over there and that was fine, but, about 5 miles north, one little town got 9 inches and another got 8 inches and so when you have all that runoff into the creek that runs along the back of our property, well, you know what happens... At the end of my post I have a few photos my husband took.... But for now I want to share with you a layout I made for the Corrugated/Crimped Layout Reveal over at Practical Scrappers!! I decided to scrap this cute photo my DD took of little Zach. Not for sure where it was, I think at his other Grandma's house. When I saw it, this old Steppenwolf song came to mind, so that's what I went with...

No, this is not a lake.. It's our bottom land...

Yep, this is the road... It was closed until Saturday... At this time you couldn't even see our cross fence.. it was totally under water...

We just bought the place last October, and Rick wanted to re-fence it.. Just not yet... But it totally layed the fences over.. The girls (cows) had to stay in the lot until we could get the fence back up.. But they were safe!! (Look at those 2 pecan trees.... I have a picture of them below after the water recedes)

It's hard to believe that the stock tank is under all that trash....

This is one of the fence lines.. They all pretty much looked like this...

Saturday, Rick and I along with our son, Levi, worked all day, and then Sunday, Rick and I worked our butts off so we could get the girls out of the lot. They are now in the upper pasture, the bottom one is way to boggy and we couldn't get in there to work.. Here is what the upper pasture looks like now...

This is the same fence line as shown above, but I'm looking down it, instead of up.. We didn't have to replace the fence, just put in more tee post.. We will replace it later on in the spring/summer... but for now it will keep the girls in...

Cross fence is up and the burn pile is the trash and debris we got out of it... Rick also found a dead wild pig caught in the fence.. We also found a snake and a salamander..

We were just thankful no one was hurt in the flood and we are going to definitely enjoy the benefit we get out of it next summer....

The One and Only You ~ Trendy Technique ~ Practical Scrappers

Hi everyone! Today I have a layout to share with you that I did for the Trendy Technique challenge that we are having over at Practical Scrappers. The Trendy Technique that I'm talking about is sewing. I see more and more people using this technique on their layouts, and in so many creative ways... Now, I may not be real creative, but I do occasionally love to sew around the outside edges and around the different layers on my layout.. I used the regular straight stitch and the zig-zag stitch and just kinda free handed it.. I think it goes with the grunge look of my layout very well...

I also used the sketch from Stuck On U Sketches, which was designed by Nanne..

Boy, did I dig into my archives for this picture.. This is little GD Savannah back in 2007 and she is re-potting my ficus tree one little handful at a time!! :o) And I wonder why that tree didn't make it!! LOL Oh well, if it wasn't Savannah, it would have been Colten or Zach...

Birthday Cards - Blog Hop and Current DT Call over at Frosted Designs!!!

Hi everyone!! Happy "hump " day.. I have a couple of Birthday Cards to share with you today along with a couple of things going on over at Frosted Designs that you will want to mark on your calendar...

The first Birthday Card is one I made for my beautiful DD who turned 30 yesterday.. I can't believe that my "baby" is 30 years old... where did the years go!! And now she is expecting her 2nd baby the end of August and we couldn't be more thrilled!!!

The next Birthday Card is for my beautiful DIL who's Birthday is next Tuesday... And we couldn't have asked for a better Daughter In Law..

Both cards are very simple because I used the gorgeous BoBunny Snowfall Collection... And just added a little Prima Pearls, Ribbon, and Stick Pins..

Okay now for the News over at Frosted Designs.

Hi everyone!! I hope you are having a wonderful week! I have another layout to share with you and this time I used the current sketch over at Creative Scrappers.. My daughter took these photos of her son, my little GS Zach on Jan. 1st out at our house... He was going up to the fort, thru the tunnel, and down the slide all by himself - Grandma was following close behind, just in case...:o) This is the first time he has done that and we were very proud of him... He's getting to be such a "big" boy... But then he has to because he's going to be a "big" brother this year!!!

Desk Top Mini Album Tutorial ~ Frosted Designs Show Me Sunday.

Hi everyone!! Today is my turn to host the Show Me Sunday reveal over at Frosted Designs. With Valentine's Day just around the corner I'm going to show you how to make a cute "Desk Top Mini Album" that would be a perfect gift for a teacher or co-worker for Valentine's Day?!!

Here it is closed...

Here is what you're going to need...

4 pieces of paper/cardstock.. I used SU Basic Black CS

Paper cutter

Bone folder

Tape Runner

2 pieces (10" each) Ribbon

Decorative Paper

And a little "Bling" of your choice to decorate the front cover

Cut (4) - 8" by 8" pieces of paper/cardstock

Each piece of paper/cardstock you will need to do the following:

1) Fold it in half.. Use bone folder..

2) Unfold.. turn the page and fold it in half again... Use bone folder

3) Unfold, and now fold the page from tip to tip and make a triangle... Use bone folder

4) Unfold, and now do the opposite tip to tip and make another triangle.. Use bone folder.

Unfold and turn the paper/cs over... This is what it should look like..

Now you are going to do steps 1 thru 4 again on this side.. and don't forget to use your bone folder..

It should look like this..

Now you are going to take the upper left square and "pinch" it together, while the rest of the paper folds upward. Sometimes it wants to go downward and that is not correct...

You should have a little triangle and a 3 sided square box shape...

Now you want to open the little triangle up and go ahead and run your tape runner on the underneath side and press tight..

Now here's what you should have...

I apologize for doing this in black... It's a little hard to see, but you do have the 3 sides and a little triangle here..

Now this is all you're going to do with this for the time being... Now you need to do the other 3 pieces of paper/cardstock the same way....

This is what you should have when you're finished...

Now it's time to start adding your pretty papers!!! I find it's a lot easier to decorate each box before you attach them together.. Each square should be 4" x 4", so be sure and cut your pp a little smaller...

First I add the paper on the triangle side... It's a lot easier to do this before you tape down the outside edge of the triangle.. Now you can tape the triangle down along the outside edge... You should have a pocket for a tag...

Next you are going to do the bottom... You will have to do this in 2 pieces so it can fold up when you close your album..

Here's my first box decorated...

Here's the second box... You can now put these 2 together.. You should attach a plain "photo" side with a tag side...

Here I have 3 boxes put together.. Notice how I added the ribbon under the pp under the tag side..

Here you can get an idea of how it folds up... I still have to add the 4th "box"..

Here is the final box... Notice that I've added another piece of ribbon under the pp on the photo side this time.. Do NOT TAPE/ATTACH the last box to the first box... This is so you can close your album..

I covered the front and back with this pp..

Added a doily, glitter frame, little envelope I punched out with my Sizzix Die and then added a little twine and a little pearl heart...

And there you have my finished album ready to give as a gift of ready for me to add some of my favorite photos!!

You can't add a lot of bulk to these little albums, but you can add stickers, doilies, lace and a little bling...

It's Time For A Layout Contest over at Practical Scrappers!!!

Last fall we hosted a massively successful card contest and now it is time to do the same but with a layout contest! To get entered you don't even have to create something new! We have over $100 worth of prizes lined up! Check out the sponsors here...

Here are the details:

1) Each week we will narrow down the field thru audience voting, voting from the Practical Scrappers design team, or voting from the Administrative team.

2) The contest will have 6 rounds: Those we have chosen for Round 1 will be announced on Saturday, January 14th and each continuing round will be announced on the following Saturday.

3) International entries are welcome, but we reserve the right to modify the prizes according to our sponsors needs should an international participant win.

It doesn't snow much down here in Texas where we live, so last February, 2011 when it snowed the little ones had a blast. My DIL took this photo of Savannah in their backyard throwing snowballs... Too Cute. I also have a photo of Colten to scrap from the same day.. He's just as cute!!

I decided to use a photo my DD took of her little son, my GS Zach, taken this month on the 17th.. He was getting ready for his Christmas program and looks so handsome!! My Wonderful Christmas Surprise!!

Hi everyone!!!! I just had to share my wonderful surprise with my friends here on my blog!! This is the Christmas Card I received from my daughter yesterday!!! I'm so excited and happy for her and Jason, and for little GS Zach... He's going to be a "Big" brother the end of August, 2012!!!!! This will be my 4th grand baby and I'm just as excited as I was with the first, second and third one!!!!! Being a Grandma is the BEST!!!!!!!

It's That Wonderful Time of The Year ~ For Some More Christmas Candy!!!

Hi everyone!! It's that time of year again.. Time for some more Christmas blog candy and this year I've invited Ulysses S. Grant, Civil War General and the 18th President of the United States of America.... Actually I've invited Two (2) Ulysses S. Grants ... along with some "YUMMY" Girl Scouts Deluxe Pecan Clusters!!! The drawing will be on December 21st, so again, if you want to share your prize with that special someone for Christmas, you can, or if you don't, that's okay too!! :o) It's totally up to you what you decide to do with it! I just want you to enjoy it ~ from me to you!!

90th Birthday Album Layout ~ Blowing Out The Candles.

Hi everyone.. I have some sad news.. I am stepping down from the Die Cut Divas Design Team.. Don't get me wrong, I love their die cuts, but so much is going on in my family life right now. It's very hard to watch your parents age and even worse when you're not close... So for now I'm just trying to finish this album for my husband's Aunt for Christmas and doing a few Christmas projects... And so this is another layout for her Christmas Album... I just have Thursday and Friday to scrap and then it gets shipped out!!!

For this layout I used the sketch from Stuck On U Sketches...

I decided to use a couple of photos even though the sketch just has one... this page will go with the "Birthday Wish" page I just did.. I've also added a tag behind the photos so she can journal what she wants to..

The borders were punched with the MS Deco Fan Punch, you can see the Prima Flower, part of the Prima Say It In Pearls, and the Butterfly I punched with the Martha Stewart Punch.

Hi everyone!! Can you believe how close it is to Christmas!!!! You will be seeing quite a few more birthday posts from me in the next week or so !! I've got to get this album done and get it mailed out in time for DH's aunt to open it for Christmas... And don't even mention Christmas Cards... I will probably just send a handful of those out this year... I just waited too long to start on them... Next year I'm going to do the monthly Christmas Card Challenge so I will have 'em made in time.. Anyway.... back to this layout... I used Creative Scrappers Sketch No. 185 as my inspiration for this layout....

I thought the sketch was perfect for the Birthday Album I'm making.. And I really loved the doily.. I've been using a lot of them in this album.. But I didn't want to use all of those flowers, so instead I used Prima Swirls..

Hi everyone!! I'm just rockin' right along trying to finish this Album of my DH's Aunt's 90th Birthday Party.. It's getting a little harder to keep the pages from looking alike.. So I decided to use some Webster's Pages with a little lavender instead of the pinks.. I also added a little black just to make it pop!!

My inspiration for this layout came from the sketch from Sketchy Thursdays...

I changed it up just a little, but I knew this one would work for my multi photos of Aunt Leola applauding her little Great Nieces and Nephew and Great-Great Nieces and Nephews... They were so cute up on the stage singing Happy Birthday to her... Great Niece, Katherine is playing the piano...

I decided to use today's sketch to scrap GD Savannah's First Grade School Photo. Instead of using 2 photos I just used the one... She is such a little stinker, her mother didn't know she had the hair clip because when she left the house it wasn't in her hair. Who knows, she may have borrowed it from one of her friends.. They are going to have their hands full with this one.. lol :o)

Hi everyone!!! Yea!!! I've got another layout completed for my DH's Aunt's Birthday Album.. I have just about 1 month to finish it and I still have a lot of photos to go through.... I also used the sketch from Sketch Savvy for this sketch....

Another Layout for Aunt's Birthday Album ~ WAS CHOSEN AS A TOP 3 OVER AT LASTING MEMORIES!

Hello everyone!!! Hope your week is going great!! Yesterday we had 1 and 1/2 inches of rain over at the farm and we had 3/4ths of an inch here at the house... So thank ful, but we need so much more.. Can't wait to see how much it helped the pasture and the oats.... Anyway... I have another layout to share with you... This one is for Rick's Aunt Leola's 90th Birthday Album and I used the sketch over at SOUS.. I finally found a little time to play along... Nanne, I love your sketch...

I've used 2 photos but the bottom one I cut a lot of the busy background off of it and layered it over a part of the first one... I really like the results..

Gingerbread House Mini Album Blog Hop ~ Lots of Pics!!

Hi blog hoppers! Wasn't Nora Anne's project beautiful?!!! (If you didn't arrive here from the Creative Cuts and More/DieCut Divas Blog, you don't want to miss what our whole DT and Guests have in store for you! The Creative Cuts and More Gingerbread Album Blog Hop starts HERE.
Even though we were originally going to start Thursday, November 10th, we just couldn't wait any longer to show you this cute Gingerbread House Mini Album.. Well, some of us anyway, there may be a few that wait until 7AM Central to post theirs, and you will be able to complete the HOP at that time

This is the cover... The snow on the roof is actually cotton with stickles.. On this page.. the house, icicles and little gingerbread man are from the Kit...

This is one of my favorite pages... Here I have 2 little gingerbread men glued back to back... They are also from the Kit...

I even went online and found these cute recipe cards that are perfect for this album.. And did I mention they are FREE...

After I completed the album I decided to use some of the left overs from the kit to make a layout with a photo from last year of my little GD Savannah decorating her Gingerbread House.

Here's the layout I created...

Here's what I used from the kit ~ the large gingerbread man, small gingerbread man, large mixing bowl with spoon, which I added the candy cane over the handle, gingerbread man border strip, and peppermint candy stickers as centers around the border.

And now I want to show you what I have left over after making the Gingerbread House Mini Album and the above layout..... You won't believe it!!!!

This is what I had left over from the

Gingerbread House Album Deluxe Kit.. While I was working on the mini album I did not throw anything away, as you can see!!

Here's what I had left over from the Embellishment Kit..

And here's what I had left over from the Die Cut Assortment kit..

Can you believe that? You could easily add extra pages to your mini album with the Gingerbread House Chipboard Mini Album Kit and decorate the pages with the leftovers. Or if you want to do a couple of different size albums.. Just purchase the others in chipboard and use the left overs to decorate.. The possibilities are endless..

Pins and Paperclips featured at Practical Scrappers

Hi everyone!! I completed another page for my DH's Aunts Birthday Album and wanted to share it with you. I had this beautiful paper and thought it would be perfect with this photo of the "Guest of Honor". I'm thinking that this will also be the first page of the album.. I really like the way it turned out!!

Here are a few close ups...

Top Right...

I did a little fussy cutting on the flowers and inked the edges just a little.. Stitched around the edges... Used the Martha Stewart Butterfly Die and added a couple of small pearls, and Distressed the Edges..

Bottom Right...

You can see more of my Distressed Edges, Stitching, Martha Stewart Punch which I inked the edges and added small pearls to the centers.. Ribbon and Flower.. I inked the edges of the flower and then added the Bo Bunny Trinket, and finally part of my Masked Background.

Bottom Left...

More Distressed edges, Stitching, Fussing cut Flowers and then inked the edges and Fussy Cut Butterfly with stickles, Martha Stewart Butterflies with pearl centers, and some of my Masked Background.

I made this for my GD Savannah who loves bling on everything!!! And I love the way it turned out.. I embossed this with Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes EF and then went over it with Tim Holtz Distressing Ink (Pumas). Everything I used to decorate this was from leftovers from scrapbooking kits I have received in the past ..

I put it together with CC&M Red Killer Tacky Tape.. So easy to assemble since it already comes scored.. Decorate it a little and then just add candy! And now you have a cute treat favor box that any goblin would love...

Layout for 90th Birthday Album

Hi everyone!! Hope you're having a great Friday! It's beautiful here in South/Central Texas today and so it's been a little hard for me to come out here to my scrap room and start scrapping. The weather is gorgeous!! But, I have a lot of scrapping to do so I better get started... Last month my husband's aunt celebrated her 90th Birthday and was given a big party. Rick and I were lucky enough to be able to be there also. We had a lot of fun... saw lots of family and a lot of people we didn't know... A couple of weeks ago one of her nieces from her husband's side ask me if I would do a scrapbook of the event.. They had a photographer there and she has sent me many photos and more to come... so along with my DT projects, I now need to get this done as soon as I can... But, don't get me wrong, I'm honored that they have ask me to do this.. Anyway, this is one of the pages I've made so far. Here are a few of the family enjoying the appetizers before the party began.. Also want to point out that the background was made with one of the napkins from the appetizer table...

You probably noticed that I don't have as much bulk/bling on this layout like most of my others, but we have to get all of the pages in 1 photo album so I'm having to refrain myself from using too much, but I still hope I've accomplished beauty and elegance!!

I'll have another page to share next Tuesday, and I also have a "Spooky" Halloween project I will post Sunday, please check back to see those!! And who knows I may have more things inbetween... I do have to get my grandbabies Halloween Cards made.. When I do I will post those too...

Now if any of Aunt Leola's family are looking at these, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, don't say anything about this album, it's a SURPRISE!!!!!! I just know some of you may not get to see them but I wanted to share them with you, too!!

Our New Addition to the Family!!! It's a Boy.. :o(

Hi everyone!! I just wanted to share pictures of our new addition to the family... When we got home from our trip to California last Friday, there he was.... My son Levi, had been keeping an eye on momma for us and said that she hadn't had him Thursday when he went and checked on her.. So she had to have had him late Thursday or early Friday...

He's such a cutie!!!
