Zach - Cool Dude ~ Sketches In Thyme ~ Fern's Sketch No. 3!!

Hello!!! It's Thursday and that means it's time for another wonderful sketch challenge over at Sketches In Thyme!!!  This week we have an "OPEN" challenge and that means you can use any sketch you like, but you need to upload the sketch with your layout..   And this week I have a little surprise for you all... I designed my own sketch, and here it is...
I had so much fun designing this sketch and I will have some more to share later...  If you like this one, please, feel free to use it!!!

For my layout I decided to use this cute photo of little GS Zach that my DD posted on FB...  She had just cut his hair and is looks adorable.... especially with those little monkey shoes!!!!  He did great as long as he had his own comb!!!  lol  Too cute!!!  I even used some of my old, old, old, paper stash... and some scraps...

Here are a few close ups:
Here you can see my distressed edges, buttons, Glitter Butterfly stickers and it's hard to see but there is a transparancy overlay under the buttons....  see the leafy vines?

The title is a sticker and I used stickles on "Dude".  You can see the glitter in this close up better!!!

Here is my the flower and another glitter butterfly sticker... along with one of the distressed corners..

Here is the brown lace and the MS Daisy Fan punched border..

And here is a hidden tag with the date....

And here is the tag pulled out.... I left it blank so my DD can journal what happened...

And here is my sweet little GS Zach sitting there with his little monkey shoes on...  So cute...  You can also see another decorative border punch with the MS Double Edge Punch.

Here is my list of scrappy things I used:
Powder Blue CS
My Minds Eye Wild Asparagus Collection
Scrap scraps
MS Double Edge Punch
MS Deep Edge Punch Daisy Fan
Flower and Vine
Stickles
Buttons
Lace
Stick on letters

Hi everyone!  It's time for another wonderful sketch challenge over at Sketch Along Tuesday-Frosted Designs...  And this weeks sketch is designed by our own Li-bee-ti... and it's a beautiful CAS design that you can do sooo much with!

As you can see I turned my photo and switched the strips with ribbon and florishes..  I also used the left side of my paper so that the pretty design from the paper would show..  This is GD Savannah's kindergarten picture and was taken a couple of months ago!!!

Here are a few close ups

Here you can see the MS Border and Corner Punch and the MS Butterfly, Lace, Rhinestones, QuicKutz Florish and the SU Ribbon...

Here is Savannah's signature.. added Jan. 30, 2011.

Disneyland - 1999 ~ SOUS Sketch Challenge

Hi everyone!!  Happy Friday...  It's time for another fun sketch over at Stuck On U Sketches and this one is from Patti Hutchinsen...
As you can see I used the general design, but definitely made it my own.  Instead of using 3 photos, I decided to use a panoramic photo of me and my DH standing in front of The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disneyland while on a family vacation back in 1999..  And since it was my husband and I, I wanted to use a heart instead of a circle...  Hope you like it!!

Here are a few close ups:

Here you can see my distressed edges, the beautiful lace frame I picked up at Creative Keepsakes Convention this last September in San Marcos, the heart chipboard that was in one of my Swirlydoos Kits, Chipboard letters, Stickles (turquoise), Bazzill Cardstock Borders (black) and Cuttlebug Vine..

I'm really trying to stay with my New Year's Resolution and do some journaling on my layouts......

And here is a Petaloo -Velvet & Lace Peach Flower, Prima Vine, and Prima Say it in Crystals Swirl with Lace-Black..

Here are a few other challenges this will qualify for:
If The Shoe Fits ~ Friendship -- I don't have a closer friend than my DH
Alphabet Challenge Blog ~ L- Lady - I consider myself a lady, sometimes
Charisma Cardz Challenge ~ Magic Numbers ~  Summer, 1999
Raise The Bar ~ N.E.W. (Nesties, Embellishments and White)

16 x 20 Canvas Project

Hi everyone, hope you are well and staying warm on this cold Sunday!!  This is definitely the kind of weather to scrap and that's just what I have been doing...  My DIL Angela wanted to know if I could do a layout using a beautiful poem that her brother wrote about Christmas as the focal point.  I have never scrapped using anything but a photo as the focal point before, but I wanted to give it a try..  She also provided me with a few older photos and a few newer photos of her and her brothers, their families, and her parents... a total of 8 photos!  Well I knew I couldn't get it all on a 12 x 12 without making everything so small that it would be difficult to read the poem or to see the photos clearly..  So while I was debating on how to proceed, I came across this beautiful Noel Kit from BoBunny, which uses a 16 x 20 canvas.. OMGosh, this was perfect..  I think the hardest part was re-arranging the photos and deciding where to add the bling and chipboard embellies...  The chipboard embellies came with the kit, and the bling are from my stash...  I couldn't be happier with this Kit.  It was perfect for this project and I would love to get a few more, but, looks like a lot of other people like it too.  I've been checking back with them and right now they seem to be out of stock..

This will also qualify for a few challenges out there--
Alphabet Challenge ~ J for journey  (I see this as a journey from childhood to adult)
By The Cute and Girly ~ Bling It On
Craft Your Days Away ~ Anything Goes
Rainbow Lady's Challenge ~ It's New To Me  (working on canvas)

Colten ~ Stuck On U Sketches Challenge

Hi everyone!!  I don't think I have to tell you it's Friday, but I do want to tell you that it's time for another wonderful sketch challenge over at Stuck On U Sketches!!   And this weeks sketch is from PageMaps

and it has a lot of possibilities...  I switched the photo and the title/journaling side because of the way Colten was facing...  The photo of GS Colten was taken December 30, 2010 and the weather was in the low 70's..  I kept the kids that day because daycare and school was still closed for the Christmas holiday...  Colten was having so much fun playing in the sand, he didn't even notice I had taken his picture.. If he had noticed, he would have turned his head or put his hand over his face!!  He just doesn't like his picture taken!!

Although I don't have a lot of intricate details on this layout, I hope you enjoy the following close ups...

here you can see the Dusty Attic Chipboard, part of the distressed edges and some of the punched borders..

Some more of the punched borders, distressed edges and chipboard letters.

Tutorial ~ Dec. 26th

Hi everyone, I did this tutorial over at Frosted Designs last week and you might have seen it there.. If you did I hope you enjoyed it and if you didn't I hope you give it a try...
This is a quick and easy way to add a little sparkle to your layouts and/or cards by using die cuts and glitter and a few other household things!

Things you will need:
Cardstock Paper
Die Cut Templates or Punches ~ I'm showing you a few different samples.. You can also use cuts from your Cricut Cartridges...
Packing Tape
Glitter ~ I used Martha Stewart Sugar Coating Glitter
Scissors

Punch or cut out your images...

Now comes the tricky part... Take a piece of the tape, sticky side up..be sure you don't get your fingerprints on the part of the tape you're going to put the glitter on or it will show... now with the right side up, stick the die cut on the tape..

sprinkle glitter over the die cut. Press the glitter with your fingers down into the cuts/holes..

Now brush off the glitter and with your scissors cut around the image as close as you can... and here are the results...

And here you can see what I did with the ornaments... I added lilac glitter on these..

A quick and easy way to add bling!!!!  I love it and I hope you do too!!
And you can see the layout I did with the butterflies here..    If you haven't visited Frosted Designs, please do, you will find all kinds of inspiration from the Design Team  and we have challenges for everyone!!
Thanks for dropping by and come back anytime!!!
Have a wonderful day!!!
