Grandma's Angels

Hi everyone, here's a 2 page layout I did for this weeks challenge over at Stuck On U Sketches..  I wasn't  for sure I was going to get to play or not... Little baby Zach is back in the hospital...  He was turning more jaundice than he should and so they wanted to put him under the lamps and then once he was there he stopped breathing while they were feeding him, twice.....  So they are keeping him there in the hospital for observation for 3 to 5 days....  Amanda is doing pretty good,  they set her up in a room so she could be near him...  Please keep them in your prayers.....
Here's the wonderful sketch for this week, and it's a design by Becky over at Pagemaps:

And here's my layout:  I decided to do a layout of my little angels...  As you can see each photo is of one of my little grand babies the day they were born... And then I added a small close-up of each of their faces...  I also added a small brass key in the corner of each photo to show that each one holds a key to grandma's heart..
Here's a close-up of the girlie page... This is Savannah... Look at that little round face...  Precious!!!
Here is the "guy" side....  This is little Colten and little Zach..  I truly do feel blessed..

He's here!!! And he's right on time!!

Hi everyone!!  Just a quick note to let you all know that little Zach was right on schedule and arrived this morning at 5:05 A.M., weighing in at a whopping 7 lbs. 2 oz. and was a whole 19 1/2 inches long...  Mommy and baby are doing great.    He's about 8 hours old here with his mommy!!
And then of course, Grandma got to hold him for a couple of hours, and he slept most of that time... But I did get a chance to see those little peepers for just a minute or two...   He's just as sweet as he can be....  And would you take a look at all of that hair...  He almost needs a trim around the ears already!!
Just wanted to let you all know where I will be for awhile ~ spoiling my precious new grand baby!!!

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Shower Kisses ~ The Pink Elephant Scrapbook Challenge #13

Hi everyone!!  It's Thursday and that means another great challenge over at The Pink Elephant!!!  This weeks challenge is ~  add extra photos with pockets, flippers, accordian mini's and/or any other fun and creative way!!   When I saw the challenge on our challenge list I knew exactly what I was going to use.. I didn't have a clue what photos I was going to use, but I knew I was going to use this cute little kraft bag I won last month from my wonderful and sweet friend Agnes aka Flowerdisco..  She cut this out using her cricut and the TBBM cartridge..  You can get the details here!!  It is the perfect size for my extra photos and I love the kraft color...
Now about my photos...OMGosh this was just adorable,  I had to run and get my camera hoping I could get a few good photos..  This is what I got....

Last Saturday night while I was baby sitting.  I had given Colten his bath and it was time for Savannah to take her shower.  Usually Colten's mother gives him a bath upstairs and I usually take care of  Savannah downstairs in my bathroom.  She pretty much does it all herself but she is still just 4 almost 5 so you have to delegate the shampoo and she loves to use the body wash, so I have to put that on her fluffy shower ball, as she calls it...lol  Anyway, no one was around to watch Colten so he was entertaining me there in the bathroom while Savannah was taking her shower..  Well, then Savannah started making funny faces on the shower door, and I guess you can say the photos tell the rest of the story..  I thought this was just precious...  And I knew I wanted to use the photos on todays challenge...  Hope you like the layout I created...  Be sure and check out the other beautiful layouts over at The Pink Elephant!!!  We would love to have you join us with your own creation...  Remember, if you play please link it up so we can all see!!!

Levi Sr. '98 ~ So Proud of U

Hi everyone!!  I haven't uploaded much lately... been a little busy with 2 DT projects due Thursday and I had the little ones from Friday thru Sunday noon..  But by golly I decided I was going to do a layout today after work and I did!!!  Yea for me!!
I used the sketch from Stuck On U Sketches which is the current Pagemap sketch...
 I really had a lot of fun with this layout.  The only problem I had was keeping the bling to a minimum.  Since this is a layout of my son, Levi, daddy to Savannah and Colten, I don't think he would appreciate too much bling.  lol!..   A couple of months ago I got this gorgeous paper in one of my Swirlydoos kit but at the time didn't know what to do with it... Well I decided it went perfect with these photos of Levi with his Saxophone.  (BTW he was one heck of a jazz player in high school...  Just wished he would have continued with it... but then the guitar came into the picture and the saxophone was put aside!!)  Once I found the paper it really went together fairly quickly...  As you can see I just used 3 photos instead of 4.  Hope you like what I did! The challenge runs thru Friday, so why don't you give it a try and play along..
Here are a few challenges this qualifies for:
Charisma Cardz Challenge ~ All about Bling
Magical Crafts ~ Male/Father
One Stop Craft Challenge ~ One For The Boys

A Day At The Zoo ~ The Pink Elephant Scrapbook Challenge

Hi everyone..  Wow,  June has been very busy for me this year, and it's only half over..  My DIL is having her gall bladder removed tomorrow and I will have the little grand babies for awhile.  Not for sure how long just yet.  DD is still waiting for her little one to arrive and I will be helping her out at that time...  And then I made an unexpected trip back home to visit my parents and now I'm calling my mom every night about my dad..  I just don't know if I'm going to make it or not!!!
I haven't had much time to scrap lately, but I did get this layout for The Pink Elephant Scrapbook Challenge finished.  This week it's a Sketch Challenge with a theme ~ Park/Vacation/Zoo!!  So how about digging out those fun photos and start scrapping.  We are even providing you a sketch to follow!!  Now, how easy is that??  Here's the sketch that Lori designed...  And what a wonderful sketch it is, too.  She's just sooo talented...
And you can do so much with this sketch..  If you don't believe me go check out the layouts the other girls did, you won't be disappointed...
I decided instead of one large photo I would use 6 little ones.  The photos were taken August, 2008, and were taken at the San Antonio Zoo.  3 of the photos were taken at the "Lory Landing" which is an Australian rainforest environment that lets you get close and hands on with hundreds of brightly colored, nectar-eating lorikeets.  For a small fee you can purchase a small cup of nectar to feed these beautiful and gregarious small parrots.  We couldn't get Savannah out of there.. She was having sooooo much fun with these little friendly Lories!!
This layout also qualifies for a few other challenges out there!!
The Pink Elephant ~ Sketch & Park/Vacation Zoo Theme
A Spoon Full of Sugar ~ Enjoying The Sunshine
Crafty Calendar Challenge ~ Bugs & Beasties

Guest Designer Project for Creative Inspirations ~ Monochromatic

Hi everyone!!  A couple of weeks ago I was choosen as a Top 3 winner over at Creative Inspirations and part of the prize was to be a Guest Designer..  I wasn't for sure what week the challenge would be posted, but I see that it was uploaded Sunday..  So I better get my card uploaded.. lol.   The challenge was monochromatic or use one color...   We were also provided our choice of a digi from Cardmad Fairy's Digital Stamps..   I chose Julia.   She just makes me think of those fun summer days when I was a little girl...  But the monochromatic part was very hard for me...  I hope you like it, and be sure and check out the other projects.
Thanks for dropping by and please be sure and stop back by tomorrow to see what I created for The Pink Elephant Scrappy Challenge!!!!

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!

Hi everyone.. I just want to say "thank you" for your thoughts and prayers you sent to my dad and family this last week... My DH and I made it back home late last night and I will treasure these last few days I spent with my dad.  Just seeing him laugh and even join in on some of the "stupid/silly" things my DH came up with kinda reminded me of other times we would go home to visit..  And you know, that's just what he really needed right now, some lighthearted conversation that stimulated his mind but didn't make him think of things he did or needed to do at home..  He doesn't need to hear about things he can't do a thing about while he's in the nursing home.... Right now we are taking one day at a time.   He doesn't seem to be depressed,  he's resting comfortably, and he has everything he needs.  We still encourage him to try to walk and get his strength back in his legs, but right now he's just too week.  Again I want to thank you all for being so supportive and such wonderful friends...
Hugs to you all!!!

It's so hard to see our parents age..

Hi everyone!  I'm typing this post with a very heavy heart and tears in my eyes...  Some of you know that my dad has been in the hospital, he's been in there since last Sunday.  He has had trouble with his legs giving out on him and he had gone down to the barn and did not come back, so my mom went to look for him and found that he had fallen between the house and the barn.  She doesn't know how long he was there and neither does he, but Sunday was a very hot day.  When she did get to him it took 45 minutes for him to get his bearings and to get his legs back under him...  After she finally won the argument she called an ambulance and they took him to the hospital.  He was very dehydrated when they got him there, but everything else seemed okay...  At least no broken bones!!  Monday went fine, and then when he woke up Tuesday it was like a totally different person laying there.  When I called my mom she told me "I have lost the man I married 60 years ago..  The man laying there in the hospital bed is not your Dad."  They did a MRI and have drawn viles and viles of blood, but everything is coming back fine.  We all feel like he has Alzheimer's, but the doctor has not said that yet.  The doctor did tell mom yesterday that he would not let dad go back home the way he is right now.  His doctor was on ER duty last night and while everyone was gone he was going to talk to dad and explain things to him.  I just don't know what this will do to him... He is a very active farmer who has to be doing something outdoors all of his life.  I'm afraid if he has to go into a nursing home it will totally crush him...   My sister and 2 brothers are there so I did not go back this last week.  I have been talking with mom every day, and my sister some, too.  We are 10 hours away, but my husband and I will be going back either later today or early tomorrow..  I just have to let my dad know how much I love him and I really need him to understand what I'm saying...  I was okay up until now, and I guess seeing this in print just makes it so very real..   Please keep my dad and mom in your prayers...
Thanks for stopping by!

You Make Me Smile ~ Savannah ~ Christmas, 2006 -- The Pink Elephant Scrappy Challenge No. 10

Please scroll down to see Sketches In Thyme Layout!!!
Hi again, it's me!!!  Boy today is a busy day for me for sure...  But it's also been a fun week preparing for today...  And as you all know, since it is Thursday, it's time for a new challenge over at The Pink Elephant ~ and this week it's a sketch challenge by our very own Lori with a little twist ~ the twist is to use a stamp somewhere on your layout!!!  Boy is she getting good at these sketches or what!!  I tell ya they are so many things you can do to this sketch.  But most of all we want you to have fun with  it, and remember, use a stamp!!!!
And here's my take on it...
This is a photo of little GD Savannah on Christmas, 2006...  The temperature was in the low 70's and it was absolutely gorgeous!!!!  If you look real close you can see that she has the string of lights in her hand and she's making that sweet little "o" with her mouth... I had to turn away so she couldn't see me smile...  Such a stinker!!!  Note the sub-title "You Make Me Smile."  Which is stamped with a Stampin' Up Stamp and embossed with Zing Black EP.....  I also used a Transparency Screenprint on this and that made it super hard to get a photo of it without getting a glare...  That's why you see the shadows..  It was taken later in the day...  Anyhoo I hope you like it!!
This layout also qualifies for a few other challenges out there which are:
The Pink Elephant ~ Sketch + stamping on layout

Teacher of the Year ~ Becky -- Sketches In Thyme ~ Challenge No. 1 !!

Hi everyone!!  Woo Hoo it's finally Thursday and that means today is the debut of Sketches in Thyme  ~ the new Scrapbook Sketch Challenge Blog with a new sketch every two weeks!!  Which should be plenty of time to get that layout done and uploaded so we can all ohhh and awww over it!!  Our first awesome sketch is from Scrapbook Sketches By Scrapiopath and is Sketch No. 34..
Wow just think of the possibilities you can do with this fabulous sketch.  My DD-I-L Angela's Mother received the Teacher of The Year Award from her Elementary School this year and Angela wanted to know if I would do a layout for her to give to her mother.... Well, of course I said "Yes"  and after seeing  this sketch I thought it would be perfect with the items I wanted to use..  So this is the layout I came up with:

As you can see I turned the sketch vertically...  And look at the yummy colors I used.  I definitely wanted to use the purple since that's the colors of the school..   And I think the turquoise is a perfect match, don't you??    I also had to add this poem that they handed out at the banquet, it reads:
The Bridge Builder
An Old man going a lone highway
Came at the evening cold and gray
To a chasm vast and deep and wide.

The old man crossed in the twilight dim;
The sullen stream had no fears for him
But he turned when safe on the other side
And built a bridge to span the tide.

"Old man" said a fellow pilgrim near,
"You're wasting your time with building here.
You never again will pass this way
Your journey will end with the closing day;
You have crossed the chasm deep and wide;
Why build you this bridge at eventide?"

The builder lifted his old grey head
"Good Friend, in the way that I've come." he said,
"There follows after me today
A youth whose feet must pass this way;
This stream that has been naught to me
To the fair-haired youth might a pitfall be,
He, too, must cross in the twilight dim.
Good friend, I am building the bridge for him."
Author Unkown
